Allow me to introduce you to the H.D. Youth Center, a nonprofit organization in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa, created to get kids off the street, to encourage a positive attitude and academic progress, and to promote a drug-free environment. A secondary purpose for the youth center is to provide a free, hot breakfast to the homeless and those in need.
Children can come in after school and on weekends to a safe environment and have the opportunity to mingle, play a few games, and do their homework. Snacks are provided.
The H. D. Youth Center was founded in 1997 after I saw a need for a safe and supervised place where area young people could go. As the number of children, homeless, and those in need being served by the youth center has grown, I have had to rely on others to help me. Today the youth center is run with eight board members, no paid staff, and about one hundred and fifty volunteers over the course of a year.
The H. D. Youth Center needs people who care about inner city youth to help and support today's children and tomorrow's leaders. I encourage you to visit or call the H. D. Youth Center at any time.
The center houses the children of tomorrow. We continue to need your help and support for today's children and tomorrow's leaders.
I also want to extend a BIG THANK YOU to all our contributors and volunteers who have made all of this possible.
If you would like to have a speaker for your group, please call the youth center or e-mail.
Best wishes,

Henry Davison
President/CEO
